Cytokine Bioassay Services
Our cytokine bioassay capability is the most comprehensive one in the US and it is available for you. We are currently offering 280 bioassays in our two state-of-the-art cell culture facilities. SBH Sciences is pleased to offer to the scientific community a unique service, Cytokine Bioassays including: Proliferation and Neutralization, In Vitro Cytotoxicity, Complement Dependent Cytotoxicity (CDCC), Agonist and Antagonist Screening as well as Cytokine Release Assay. In addition, we are continually developing new assays and would be pleased to add others upon your request. We can assure strict confidentiality and superior execution which will be delivered on a timely basis and cost effective manner. The expected turnover time per assay is less than two weeks, and a written report including methods, results, and conclusions will be issued. Most of the bioassays are based on a colorimetric method of measuring
cell activity using a non-radioactive substrate. This assay has been proven
to be equivalent to the [3H]thymidine incorporated assay (Cell
Signaling Applications Guide, Promega Corporation). The compound and the
standard (if required) are reconstituted, serial diluted, and incubated
with the cells over a 20 to 96 hour period.
BMPs (bone morphogenetic proteins) belong to the large group of growth
and differentiation factors from the TGF-beta superfamily. The bioassay
of the BMPs is based on measurement of alkaline phosphatase production
by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells.
During the last 10 years we have built our expertise and currently we are providing
the most comprehensive Cell-Based Cytokine
assays in the US. Our array of cytokine bioassay services already accelerated
discovery and development programs in numerous Biopharmaceuticals companies.
In addition, we have developed and implemented many NEW assays which become

In-Vitro Cytotoxicity Testing
We currently have over 400 mammalian cells with over 320 different human cancer cell lines, as well as numerous Primary human cells (e.g., HEKa, HUVEC, HMVEC, NHDF, NHEK, PBMC). We already perform thousands of anticancer drug testing. We can analyze the biological activity of your compound by itself or in combination with known anticancer drug. Cost for Currently Available Assays
Proliferation or Cytotoxicity : $1050 per one 96-well plate (2 samples plus STD).
BMPs (alkaline phosphatase activity) : $1,100 per one 96-well plate (2 samples plus STD).
STAT / Caspase Activity : $1,400 per one 24-well plate (up to 4 samples including STD).
Neutralization assay : $1,300 per one 96-well plate (2 samples plus STD).
Agonist and Antagonist Screening : $1,300 per one 96-well plate (2 samples plus STD).
Cytokine Release Assay : $1,650 per one 96-well plate (including the ELISA).
Please note that $100 will be added to the cost of each assay that is based on PBMC.
Please note that $50 will be added to the cost of each assay that is based on Primary Cells.
Volume discounts are available (for more than 25 assay plates per year).

Cost for Development of New Assays
Development of a new bioassay: $8,000 - $12,000.
Generally, the development of new bioassays will require approximately 8
to 12 weeks.
